From Port of Prince to Port of Spain: A Journey Through Solidarities
In collaboration with Khadija Haynes collective Black People for Theory and Praxis and Canboulay on Friday, August 16, 2024 at the People’s Forum we commemorated Black August with a discussion on Haitian identity and Kreyol in Quebec with Dr. Sandra Najac, scholar and professor at Université de Hearst. The event also consisted of teach-ins led by Khadija Haynes, founder and creator of Black People for Theory and Praxis and Canboulay, and organizer; Ryan Cecile Jobson, scholar, and author; Zainab Floyd, founder and creator of Caribbean archive. This served as a catalyst for an understanding of our history and the interconnecting solidarities of Haiti, Trinidad, and the broader Caribbean.

Part one of the series aims to dismantle February 27, Dominican Independence Day and define what Dominican solidarity means in the face of global imperialism, in Palestine, Haiti, Congo, Sudan, Tigray.
